Contact Your Congress Members About Legislation Affecting Greek-Letter Organizations

Greek leaders continue to work toward gaining bipartisan sponsorship for the Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act (H.R. 1523/S. 1246). Greek housing facilities operate almost exclusively on rent received from members. Unlike universities, U.S. tax laws do not permit Greek house corporation boards to use tax-deductible funding for important life-safety capital improvements. The Collegiate Housing and Infrastructure Act
Linda Johnson, Gamma Phi Beta International President, at the White House
would put fraternity and sorority house corporation boards on an equal tax-deductible footing with universities. We are encouraging our members to write to their representatives and senators to help ensure passage of this legislation with the language that meets these objectives.
