The 22 churches in Leadership Network's
Externally Focused Leadership Community
dramatically expanded their ministries in
2004.
Two specific measurements give an idea of
the pace at which these churches are improving
their local communities.
Number
of People Serving. To boost
its impact, a church needs to get
more people involved. In 2004, the
participating churches increased
by 50% the number of members engaged
in external ministries (from 12,250
to 18,393).
Congregational
Involvement. Perhaps even more
important, the external orientation
is becoming a deeper and more broadly
based movement within these churches'
congregations. The aggregate percentage
of members involved in external
ministry increased from 24% in 2003
to 39% in 2004. More and more members
are responding to their leaders'
calls to external ministry.
