While externally focused churches are stepping up to the challenge of meeting the educational, health and emotional needs of children, leaders of these faith communities also have discovered that serving children in their communities is a rewarding way to extend God's grace.

When Costa Mesa, CA, schools expressed a need for more after-school educational support and tutoring for their English Language Learners, members of The Crossing Church stepped up.
What resulted was the Maple Learning Center, which currently serves 50 students and engages 17-25 adult volunteers weekly.
