Give a Gift of Love This Christmas

Flying in Africa in small missionary planes like the Cessna described here isn't always as comfortable as jet travel is here in America. Those small planes can really be tossed around by updrafts of warm air as they fly over canyons and ridges.

I remember some flights I took while in Ethiopia that made me feel like I was on a monster roller-coaster. Although I don't get motion sick easily, it
took me a full day to recover from one of those particularly turbulent flights.

But when the alternative is several days of bone-jarring travel over rough roads, I'd choose the flight every time—and so would our missionaries in Sudan. That's why I am so grateful for the Cessna that friends like you helped send to Sudan to assist our missionaries so that they can accomplish their work much more quickly, safely, and effectively.

The Cessna is a huge blessing, but we have hundreds of other ministries that rely on your support as well. Your prayers and gifts are a vital part of helping SIM fulfill our mission of evangelizing the unreached, ministering to human need, discipling believers, and equipping churches to fulfill Christ's Commission.

In this issue of Harvest, we want to thank you for your support and report back to you on just a few of the many ways God is using your gifts to impact lives around the world.

You can read about a new AIDS education program in South Africa that helps youth make choices in their lives that could curb the spread of AIDS in their generation. Also, be sure to see how new programs at the Mekelle Youth Center in Ethiopia have overcome the challenges of reaching out to young girls.

Finally, you'll learn about a training program in Ethiopia that disciples Christian leaders and teaches them how to apply what they've learned to help believers in their own communities grow into maturity in Christ.

I hope you will read each of these articles. I am confident you will be encouraged by all that is being accomplished through the faithful prayers and gifts of friends like you. May God bless you for your sacrificial support.
